How Wordado works

Wordado is built on one finding from memory research: you remember a word best when you review it just before you would forget it. Everything else in the app follows from that.

Spaced repetition

When you meet a new word, you forget it quickly unless you see it again. Review it too early and the review is wasted; too late and you are learning it from scratch. Wordado schedules every word for you, with a modern scheduler called FSRS that learns from your own answers. Words you find easy come back after longer and longer gaps. Words you find hard come back sooner, until they stick.

How much you rememberWithout review, memory of a new word drops within days. With a review just before it fades, it stays high and fades more slowly each time.without reviewwith Wordado

After each card you say how well you knew the word: Again, Hard, Good or Easy. That one tap is all Wordado needs to plan the next review.

Levels, units and themes

Words are arranged by level, from A1 for complete beginners to C1, where you follow and take part in almost any conversation. Each level is split into short units of related words, and a unit opens when you are ready for it. If you already know some of the language, choose your level at the start or take the short placement test.

Themes, such as travel, food or work, gather words from the topics you care about, alongside your path.

Short, varied sessions

A session takes a few minutes. You meet new words on flashcards, check them with quick multiple-choice questions, pick the word you hear, and match pairs in practice games. As a word becomes familiar, the questions get harder: from recognising it to recalling it yourself.

You choose how many new words to start each day. Wordado keeps the number of reviews manageable, so a busy week does not turn into a mountain.

Hear every word

Every word and its examples are spoken by a clear voice. Listening is part of the practice, so you learn how a word sounds as well as how it is spelled.
